PEACE, LOVE, DANCE 24-hour Global Nia Fundraiser

This event was initiated by Kinga Brezina, a Nia Trainer in Budapest, Hungary. I know her personally. Since the invasion of Ukraine by Russia on February 24th, Kinga has been organizing her Nia community. She writes:

“Since the war began the people of Hungary opened their hearts and have been helping and giving whatever is needed wherever they can. My Hungarian Nia community has been helping in many ways: making food and carrying it to the stations, buying medications, sending money, collecting blankets, food, baby strollers, offering our houses to the refugees, and volunteering when needed. We have received so much support from the Global Nia Community that I had this dream of creating the PEACE LOVE DANCE 24-hour Global Nia Fundraiser. I hope you will join us.” -Kinga

Here is the Zoom link for the dance: https://tinyurl.com/GlobalNia

It will also be streaming on FaceBook live through the inSpirit Santa Fe Facebook page. Here is the link:

Although you can join at any time, each 45-minute playlist begins at the top of the hour. Please sign in a few minutes early to begin with the group.  Also, when you click the Zoom link for the dance, it will ask for your email address as the “registration,” but there is no payment. Only your email address is required to attend. Making the donation is on your honor.

Please note, this event is also going to be live-streamed on Facebook. However, when we are dancing, only the instructor who is highlighted will be visible on the FB page. If we go into gallery mode at the end of class, please feel free to turn your camera off if you do not want to be seen on the livestream. If you use Facebook, please help us spread the word!

Why are we donating to Migration Aid?
According to the BBC, as of a few days ago, 10 million Ukrainians have been forced to leave their homes, more than 4 million have already left the country. Kinga and her students have been volunteering with a local, grassroots organization called Migration Aid which works on the frontlines of this tragedy.

Migration Aid was created in Hungary in 2015.  They formed to help Syrians fleeing the war and then later also working with Ukrainians who fled when Russia invaded Crimea. In the past month and a half, they have been focusing their work on the border between Hungary and Ukraine, which is not far from the city of Lviv, as well as meeting Ukrainian refugees at train stations. Migration Aid gives people immediate support such as food and clothing and provides transportation into the cities in Hungary and other cities in Europe. They have just opened a hostel that can house 300 people for short periods of time.

How to donate?

Here is the Migration Aid website where you can make a donation

Or you can send funds directly through PayPal to adomany@migrationaid.org

The suggested donation amount is $25 US (about 8,600 Hungarian Forint- HUF). PayPal will do the exchange rate for you. If you would like to give more, $100 US is approx 34,000 Forint, although the exchange rates change daily.  If you cannot give that much, the smallest donations through PayPal are $5 US Dollars. Any amount $5 or more is greatly appreciated.  I am just showing you the numbers so that you don't worry when you see the donation amounts in Forint after putting in your credit card. Also, the translation of "Migration Aid" will show up on your receipt translated as "A Segítők Egyesület."  I just made my donation through PayPal and it works easily.
